Pip in the vines

Photo taken same place as the barrels, and where Ted took his vineyard shot six months earlier. I did this with manual focus.

Lots of great lines in this shot. I like all of the straightness here, from the shadow of the fines to the varying branches to the contrasts between the dogs different colors of fur. The dog looks very happy in the shade.
However, It definitely feels a little bright and may be slightly overexposed. I feel like there’s some loss of detail in the sun-lit branches on the ground in the bottom left of the image.
I’m also sort of confused on what the intent of this shot is. The dog seems a bit too happy and active for it to be a landscape shot, but there isn’t enough action or emotion for something like photojournalism. It feels a bit stuck in the middle.
Finally, the focus is great, especially for manual focus. It really draws your attention to the subjects at the front of the image.
I don’t think that this photo really qualifies as photojournalism, so I take issue with that critique.
You may be right about the exposure, although you may recall it was quite bright that day! I’d have to look at the EXIF data.
