Foliage is always hard. It’s neat how your brain can disentangle foreground leaves from background ones as you move, but it makes shots like this one hard. Here the shallow depth of field and slight color difference has helped to make the front leaves stand out from the back, but it would be even better if the foreground and background were even more different in color. I’ve had a lot of problems with this sort of thing when shooting flowers. It’s really easy to get a great shot of a flower that just merges into background flowers that you didn’t even notice were there.
