I found this mushroom on-campus earlier this year. I think he looks a lot like the Kodama spirits from Princess Mononoke. I’ve tweaked this photo a little bit, bringing up the saturation of the grass and cropping it a little.
I like the high contrast between the white mushroom and the grass, and the way the grass has grown around the shroom.

This photo rocks. Initially I thought it would work better with a rule of thirds, but after some reflection I don’t think the photo would have as much impact; the illusion of symmetry is intriguing and enhances the photo. I think the green dances on the edge of hyper-real, but it works and I wouldn’t suggest decreasing the saturation.
