A cat who has hung around Ted’s house at various time over the past year and a half. We recently took him to the shelter. I named him Morgan, but his ninja name is Orange Cat. I love the focus in this photo; I just wish his eyes were also in focus (they aren’t in the larger version). This photo would have also been better if there was more light on the right side of Morgan’s face. I warmed up the colors of the photo in Lightroom.

The focus in this image is almost as awesome as the subject is. Don’t let the shallow depth of field disappoint you. It’s a very nice image. Also, I think the eye on the left is mostly in-focus, which allows the right one in darkness to blur a little in a good way. Warming up the colors was a good choice. The only think I’d like is a little bit more dynamism in his expression or face. I want the cat to be doing something or showing some emotion in his jawline and mouth. As it is, I just get a sense of staring at the camera, which is all-right, but cats are such emotional creatures, I would have like to have seen that here.

I think you’re suggesting, Ted, that Morgan show his true personality and try to bite my face off. I was quite pleased with his placidity that day. :D
