Wired

I’ve always felt like there’s a bunch of good pictures in electric/telephone poles, but I always find them hard to capture. This one is all-right, but I still keep wanting to capture the interesting complexity there, but I haven’t figured out the best way to. I’d appreciate any comments or thoughts on the matter or on this image.

I love the play symmetry and asymmetry in this. The unintended vignetting with the clouds in this photo is fascinating; the fact that they’re sort of pink adds an interesting element as well. The hue and softness of the clouds seems to make this object more approachable, less intimidating. I would have maybe upped the color of the sky and clouds a bit more, but all in all I think it’s a solid shot.

PS: Despite your reservations, I think you did well with this photo. It’s not a typical image of this ubiquitous object. Usually when I think of telephone and electrical poles, I imagine a long desolate row of them in a desert, but that’s about it. You took a hard subject and made it interesting.
